On Fire by Marilene Oliver 2019, three colour woodblock print (RGB) on gampi. I wanted to explore the noise of the woodgrain with this rendering of MR data which is also very noisy.

MATERIAL: ½ inch plywood

CUT/ENGRAVED: Engraved

CUTTING/ENGRAVING TIME: 30 minutes per block

FILE PREPARATION: The image is a volume rendering of MR scan data. The RGB image was split into 3 colour channels using photoshop, resized to 333dpi.

SETTINGS USED: Standard Baltic birch settings were used, engraved once with a stucki dither.

Notes – a hard roller was used to ink up the block and it printed bests on thin gampi. In future best to engrave twice.
